Post dedicado a alguém que hoje faz anos

An yellow primrose for a Primrose suburb resident

[2151]

"... What that english poet meant was that for that man such yellow flower was and ordinary experience, or anything already known. Yet, this is exactly what is not correct. Anything that we see should be seen as if it was the very first time, because in fact it is the first time we actually see it. Therefore each and every yellow flower is a new flower, even if it is the same as we saw yesterday. We are no longer the same and nor is the flower. Even the very yellow may not be the same. It is a pity that we do not have the right eyes to see it, for we would then be all happy...!

Álvaro de Campos, referring to his master Alberto Caeiro, both heteronyms of Fernando Pessoa. Fernando Pessoa died some seventy one years ago and was one of the greatest names of the portuguese modern literature. Incidentally, he also lived in Durban for a number of years. Above translation is my own, so it may have lost some sense or beauty. It should nevertheless be enough for you to catch the point.

Happy birthday, my dear. Now that you entered the magic "teens"!

Love you.
